Laura’s Artistry in Eco-Friendly Dreadlock Styling

I am a mobile loctician based in Ramsgate, Kent. Travel within a 10 mile radius of Ramsgate is included within the cost of the service. A small surcharge will be made of £1 per mile thereafter to cover the cost of both petrol and my time for the commute. This surcharge will only apply one way, for example from Ramsgate to Canterbury is approximately 17 miles so a £7 surcharge will be made and this price will cover my expenses both to and from the appointment. All I require is a space big enough for me to work around you, a chair such as a kitchen chair or a stool so I can access your hair easily and a small table or worktop to lay out some tools and supplies.

Maintenance (normally a full head of regrowth maintenance takes between 1.5-3 hours)

Maintenance can include tidying and tightening up the bases and lengths, repairing, restructuring, separating, or combining 2 thin dreads into 1 to strengthen and thicken up. I can also use human hair to thicken and strengthen weak points in your existing dreads. Also includes reattaching extensions where required.

New dreads full head

• Short hair (nape of neck) £80 (3-4 hours)
• Shoulder length hair £100 (4-5 hours)
• Bra strap length £140 (6-7 hours)
• Waist length £160 (7-8 hours)
• Lower back length £180 (8-9 hours)
• Longer length £TBC

New dreads partial to half head

• Shorter hair (nape of neck), dread hawk or top knot £60 (1-2 hours)
• Shoulder length hair £80 (2-3 hours)
• Bra strap length £120 (4-5 hours)
• Waist length £140 (5-6 hours)
• Lower back length £160 (6-7 hours)
• Longer length £TBC

Permanent extensions

I only use human hair for permanent extensions in order to offer the best quality and longevity for my clients. These are added on to existing dreads and can be custom made to lengths up to 22 inches. Price will vary according to length, thickness and quantity required so please message me to discuss your requirements. As I am an eco-friendly business, I provide the option for extensions to be made from up-cycled human hair extensions. This is better for the environment and can help to keep costs down for you. However, I do understand that this option does not appeal to everyone so I am more than happy to provide extensions made from new hair and the supplier that I use for this is Glamorous Lengths. Extensions made from new hair will obviously incur a greater charge. Please message me directly for a quote.

I have finally created a price list for permanent extension sets made with brand new hair. For single ended or double ended, there are more time considerations and limiting factors so I will only give bespoke quotes for these kinds of sets.

These prices are just for the set itself, it does not include fitting or postage. This factors in the cost of the weft to buy and the time it takes me to make the set.

Each weft I buy will produce around 25 dreads between pencil and sharpie thickness and this is the most common size I am asked to make. The thicker the dreads, the fewer I will get from each weft. If you are wanting thicker dreads, I can make a lesser quantity for the same price or I can purchase another weft to increase the quantity I can produce.

Good quality and ethically sourced human hair is not cheap. I am also a small business so I do not stock lots of hair in every available shade and I cannot afford to have much in the way of excess stock. If you do not want as many as 25 dreads then unless I happen to have some remnants in stock from which I can fulfil your order, then I will have to charge you for the cost of the whole weft.

There are some potential options to bring costs down. I say potential as they depend on certain factors. Sometimes I can source good quality pre-loved hair that I throughly detox and transform into dread extensions. This is a good option if you are looking for up to 25 dreads.

When would this not work?
If the shade you require is not available at that time. Some shades are more common than others so it can be luck of the draw. If you require more than 25 extensions then that will require me to source 2 wefts/sets of extensions. This reduces the likelihood of me finding two wefts in the same shade, make and length at the same time. However, in common shades this can be possible! I will not mix and match brands and the reason for this is the hair types may be different. Some brands have more of a natural curl to them and some are dead straight. Could you imagine if some of your dreads were wavy and some were straight and the hair itself was different thicknesses? That may look cool and that may look like a mess, it’s a risk I won’t take as I do not compromise on the quality for my customers.

I can also make dreads out of hair supplied by the buyer. So you get to set your own budget of what you want to spend on the hair itself.

When would this not work?
I am good, but I cannot turn water into wine. If you buy cheap quality extensions that thin towards the ends as many do, they will be inferior quality. We would need to work together to ensure you have or purchase a weft or extension set that has enough hair, is long enough and is of good enough quality to produce the end result you are looking for. I will always be honest, if I do not think it will work then I will not accept the job.

Braid in extensions

Braid in extensions can be either single ended (SE), double ended (DE) or a combination of both. As mentioned previously I only create extensions from human hair and will provide a bespoke quote on request.
